There has been a lot of press recently about how dirty tap water is, and it has a lot of people scared.  We have been using water filters for years, but I know I’ve heard a lot of people talking about it.  I’ve always kind of wondered about the things that are in water filters, or what might be left over once it goes through the filter. What drew me into the BluPure filter was two things;1) It is ecofriendly and 2) there were 13 stages in this filtration system.

The 13 stage filtration consists of the following filters:

  1. 5-micron filter pad
  2. KDF-55
  3. 5-micron filter pad
  4. catalytic carbon
  5. 5-micron filter pad
  6. G.A.C. (granular active carbon)
  7. 5-micron filter pad
  8. ion exchange resin (I.O.R.)
  9. 5-micron filter pad
  10. zeolite natural rock
  11. 5-micron filter pad
  12. calcite
  13. 0.5-micron carbon block

There are a ton of steps that water has to go through just to end up in your glass.  Almost everything that might have been in you water should be out by then including:

  • Chlorine
  • Cysts
  • Heavy Metals
    (mercury, iron, lead, etc.)
  • Herbicides
  • VOCs
  • Asbestos
  • Giardia
  • Arsenic
  • Bromide
  • PBCs
  • Bacteria
  • Protozoa
  • Radiation Particles
  • Medication Residue
  • Hydrogen Sulfide
  • Pesticides
  • Trihalomethanes
  • Cadmium
  • Petrochemicals
  • Sediment

That is a quite a bit of stuff. The water to me tastes so much cleaner, and it no longer has that chlorine taste. I am going to try to have the water tested soon, to see if a lab can tell the difference between a control sample and a sample of water that went through the filter.  Once I get the results I will post them.

There are a few problems I’ve had with the BluPure filter.  First of all, we have very high water pressure at out house, and that caused the BluPure filter to leak.  The leak was very slow, so I could never find where it came from.  BluPure sent me a replacement part, but before I went and tried to take the filter apart, I decided to try the filter at my mom’s house.  There it worked just fine.  The second issue we had was that since the filter hooks directly to the faucet, the water coming out of the faucet very slow.  That is just more annoying than anything, and I’m not really sure what is causing that issue.

Overall, barring any thing coming up on the lab report, I really do think that BluPure has come up with a very nice product.  I wish that I could use it at my house, however my mom and sister are really enjoying having it.

If you would like to purchase your very own BluPure water filter, you can do so on Amazon.  The current price is $85.95 (PRIME!!) and has 4.9 stars out of 5!  So, if you are looking for a filtration system that will remove almost everything in you water for a reasonable price, this is where you should look.
