Order Out of Chaos (R) Academic Planner: Review

This Review was also published on Feeling Kind of Random: Reviews and Giveaways.

Also posted on When I was in elementary school, our school started providing us with planners that we could write homework due dates, school events, tests dates, and help us start keeping a schedule of our daily lives.  I didn’t understand then, why an academic planner was any use, and it was so annoying to me because it had to be signed by a parent every night.  By the time I was in high school, the school system I was in had done away with them all together, and my study habits were a complete mess.

I was so glad to see that the academic planners were coming back, and now even easier to use.  My favorite planner was developed by Leslie Josel and Order Out of Chaos®

Leslie is a member of the National Association of Professional Organizers and an expert in chronic disorganization so, she know a thing or two about how to keep people organized.

The front of the organizer is a nice laminated thick card stock paper.

The first page you see when you open up the Academic Planner is a sheet for the information of the person the organizer belongs to.
The next page in the 2013-2014 planner is the August calender.  This page is a little different, because that is the last page that is a full page.  On the left hand side of this page there is a column that has places where you can pencil in your class schedule, and there are is times for after school activities.
I would definitely use pencil in that left hand column because you use that same column all year long. As you can see in the photo below it is the same column.
Next, you can see that you have the subject column on the left hand side, but then you have columns for Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and so on across the page.  Each day there are blocks for each subject where you can write in, and then smaller blocks for after school activities.  I don’t know if you can see by my terrible photos, but the days also have the date beside them.
The last page in the book is really nice.  It is a plastic pocket so your student can keep important papers for parents or maybe something that is important to them.
I really like these academic planners, and they are so much better than what we had in school.
If you would like to get one of these amazing planners for your little (or big) kid you can do so on Order Out of Chaos’ website here: http://orderoochaos.com/shopproducts#!/~/product/category=5059090&id=21117059
They come in four different colors: Blue Kaleidoscope, White Out, Grey Stripes (like mine pictured above), and Bright Waves (which is currently sold out). The planner is normally $19.99 but is on sale right now for $15, and I feel that this is a very good investment for your student.
I want to thank Order Out of Chaos for providing me with one of their Academic Planners free of charge.  Even though, they provided me with a free product, these opinions are 100% my own, and I was in no way compensated monetarily for this review.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

    Anabella Giggles All Day! Children’s Picture Book {Review}

Anabella Giggles All Day is a very cute little picture book about Anabella and her friend Imani.  In the book Anabella and Imani are having an argument, but they both find a way to be friends again.

The book is very cute, and definitely geared for the early reader stage.  It would be best if the child was advanced enough in reading, though, if she/he could look at a word and gather what it means just from the text.  There are a few words in the book that some children might not have in their vocabulary.

The only thing I do not like about this book is the Keddy Teddy and the Rhompas.  They are in the book, but never explained what or who they are and where they come from.  That part just does not make sense to me.

If you would like to read Anabella Giggles All Day, or any of the other Anabella books, they can be found on Amazon and can be downloaded for Kindle and the Kindle apps.

    Smart Mom Jewelry: Teething Bling

When Goose was teething, there is one thing I learned.  Teething babies will chew on anything and everything.  Included in that is jewelry.  I was always petrified that she would break my necklace or bracelet when she was trying to get to it and chew on it, causing a situation where there would be a choking hazard. So, while she was teething, I pretty much stopped wearing jewelry all together.

Recently, I saw some really neat and beautiful mom friendly jewelry.  It’s called Teething Bling by Smart Mom Jewelry.  They have different styles of jewelry, but my favorite is their Signature Pendants.

The Signature Pendants come with a donut shaped pendant and on a black silky cord with a breakaway clasp for safety.  The pendants may look like glass, but are actually made from durable and easily cleaned food-safe, phthalate-free, federally-approved silicone.  They have a soft texture and feel, making sore little gums feel better.  The pendants are 100% non-toxic, waterproof, and heat resistant, too.

If you like something a little more “blingy” then you should check out their beaded line.  They too contain the silicone pendant, but Smart Mom Jewelry went and added some silicone beads to make everything safe for the kiddies and fashionable for moms’ to wear.

Smart Mom Jewelry also carries bangles that match the pendants, patterned pendants, shimmer pendants, ring pendants, heart/square/triangle pendants, a sports line of pendants, whimsical pendants, cross shaped pendants (limited editions), Tween bling (which includes scented pendants), and Babe Magnet Ties for dads.

If for some reason you do not like the black silk cord or it breaks, Smart Mom Jewelry even sells replacement cords that comes in sliver, tan, white, and black.  The replacement cords will run you $1.25 + shipping, which is not bad at all.

If you are interested in getting your own Teething bling, check out SmartMomJewelry.com.  The necklaces will run you $15.99-$24.99 + shipping, the bangles are $12.99 + shipping, and the Baby Magnet Ties are $19.99 + shipping.

    Kid Basix: The Safe Sippy 2 {Review}

It seems like every few months, I go on a “quest” to find better products for Goose.  With all the scare of plastics now days, I figured it was time to look for her some better sippy cups.  I searched Amazon, researched pretty much every sippy cup they had, and then decided on a stainless steal cup would be best for us right now.
Kid Basix was one of my favorites from the start.  They have several different options that will meet almost everyone’s needs.

They start out with the Safe Starter.

It is a stainless steel bottle that comes in 5oz and 9oz and three beautiful colors.
Next, they have The Safe Sippy and The Safe Sippy 2.
I chose to review the Safe Sippy2.  I feel it gives you more options and room for your child to grow with the cup.  The Safe Sippy2 comes with three options for how to use ; a clear valve, solid orange travel plug, and a straw adapter.

I love the clear valve and the straw adapter (Goose can’t decide what she likes best, and pretty much changes her mind daily on how she wants to drink from this cup).  The travel plug (the solid orange one) has yet to be used by us, since we don’t really use a diaper bag or anything like that anymore.
Please note, that the travel plug, is what it sounds like.  A plug.  The child cannot drink from the cup with the travel plug is in, but does make the sippy cup completely leak proof.
As you may notice the spout on these sippy cups are a little different.  They have a straw like design made from hard BPA free plastic, and that honestly confused Goose a little bit a first.  But she got the hang of it in no time at all.  Now, I didn’t know this, but according to the Kid Basix information, the straw shape is designed specifically for developing palates, and the wide flat spouts found on some sippy cups emulate thumb sucking.
The body of this sippy cup and actually all of Kid Basix’s products are made from a lightweight, durable, food grade stainless steel. It is non-leaching, anti-microbial, and can be put in the dishwasher (yay!).

The sleeve is made from thermoplastic rubber (click link for more information on thermoplastic rubber). Which makes it easy for little hands to hold onto, and helps insulate the cup.

The handles are made from the same hard plastic as the spout.  They are completely removable for older children.  Goose is 2 years 9 months, and I am still using it for her.  It seems to help her be able to hang onto it better.

The Safe Sippy2 comes in one size of 11oz.  You have choice of 6 colors that you can choose from when purchasing a Safe Sippy2.  Goose choose herself the green, and we are very happy with how bright and cheerful it is.

If you have a pre-schooler or older child you might want to look into The Safe Sporter.

The Safe Sporter comes in two sizes; the 12oz or lunch box size or the 16 oz the soccer field size.
All in all, I love these cups. They are going to run price wise a little more than your normal sippy cup.  The Safe Sippy2 is for sale right now on Amazon for $15.95.
If you would like to check the bottles and cups out for yourself, you have a few ways you can do that.  You can visit them on their website at http://www.kid-basix.com.  They also have a Facebook page, and you can follow them on Twitter

Crummy Bunny Baby Leggings Review and Giveaway

The weather is getting cooler, and for a while I’ve wondered how I was going to keep Goose warm in her little tutu while we are on our way to ballet.  Then it hit me one day, LEG WARMERS!!  Why I hadn’t thought of that before, I have no idea, but it’s perfect.  Then Crummy Bunny agreed to let me do a review of some of the Baby Leggings.

Crummy Bunny, founded in 2012, has some of the most adorable items.  They carry leg warmers, hats, sun glasses, hair accessories, bibs, mittens, sweaters, knee pads, and sleepwear.  I currently have 6 pairs of their leg warmers, and I am looking into getting more.

The leg warmers are the perfect size for Goose.  They are made from 85% Cotton, 10% Nylon and 5% Spandex.  The six pairs that Goose has are super soft, and I believe that they would stay up all day.

The six pairs I got all came together in a package.  I got two solid colors: Yellow Ruffles and Blue Ruffles; and I got four patterned ones: Chevron, Pink with polka-dots, flowers, and Janie’s Little Apples.
Goose loved the pink with polka-dots ones, and wanted to wear them as arm warmers the rest of the day.
My favorite had to be either the flowers or Janie’s little apples.

    They are both so cute.
Goose had to try out the leg warmers with her tutu and ballet shoes, too.

I absolutely love these leg warmers and I think Goose does too.  She thinks she needs to wear them all the time.
How to get Crummy Bunny Baby Leggings:
Buy it: You can buy Crummy Bunny products on their website http://www.crummybunny.com/ or on Amazon.  Prices start at $9.99 and go up.  Which I don’t think is so bad for what you are getting.
Win it: Crummy Bunny has been so nice to let me do a contest giveaway for a three pack of baby leg warmers that would be perfect for Halloween or any other time too. You can enter to try to win the baby leg warmers in the form below.

    Live Clean (Baby) Review

Have you ever walked into a store looking for a product that is organic, plant based, and safe for your child, only to find out that your only options are way out of budget or totally not what you want to put on your child?  That actually happens to me quite a bit, until I learned about Live Clean (Baby) skin care products.

Live Clean (Baby) makes Bar Soap and Foaming Shampoo and Body wash (pictured above) along with Baby Bath, Baby Lotion, Non-Petroleum Jelly, and Diaper Ointment.  All are hypoallergenic and pediatrician tested, made mostly out of plant bast ingredients and/or natural sustainably sourced ingredients, and they are free of the 4 P’s (Paraben, Petroleum, Phthalate, and Phosphate).
The Live Clean (Baby) Foaming Shampoo and Body Wash is also tear free, and has a really great sent that is made from certified organic botanicals of Chamomile, Lavender, and Aloe.  Goose just loves how it smells, and wants to wash her hair and belly several times during one bath.
The bar soap is really nice too.  It has NO scent at all! It really foams up nice and does not dry out Goose’s skin like other bar soaps have in the past.
In the United States, we are limited on where we can buy Live Clean (Baby).  As of right now, is sold exclusively through Walgreens and their partner sites; including Walgreens.com.  What I like best, is the price is not going to break the bank either.  For the foaming wash, in the 265mL bottle, the ARV is $6.99, and it really does last quite a long time.
There is just one little thing that I don’t like about Live Clean (Baby), and it’s not a deal breaker at all.  When mine was shipped to me, the foaming wash leaked.  It was all over the box and everything else inside when it finally got to my home.  So just be aware of this if you order from Walgreens.com.  Maybe request that they put it in a plastic bag for shipping or something like that.
All in all, this is a great product, and I am so glad that they contacted me about doing a review for them.
If you would like to read more about Live Clean (Baby) and Live Clean, you can visit their website at http://www.live-clean.com/.

Darcus Tori Black Onyx Square Cut Post Earrings Review

I think every mom should pamper herself sometimes, and there is nothing better than giving yourself something that makes you feel special.

Today, I have the opportunity to give you a review of Darcus Tori‘s Black onyx square post earrings.  Let me tell you, these earrings are adorable.  The onyx stones measure in a 6mm, and they are set in genuine .925 sterling silver.  The post and backs are sterling silver too.

    Here is the top view
    Side view
I love these earrings, and I’ve already had a ton of compliments.
Right now on Darcus Tori‘s website, the earrings are $59.95, but be sure to checkout Darcus Tori’s facebook page.  I’ve seen some very good deals that they only offer on their fan page
Like I said, I love these earrings, but I would love it if they could also stamp the .925 on the actual sterling silver as well.  But honestly, that is my only problem with these awesome earrings.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Green Mountain Coffee’s Fair Trade Three Continent Blend Coffee #Review

Have you ever heard of “fair trade”?  If you have never heard of it here is what Wikipedia says it is:

Fair trade is an organized social movement that aims to help producers in developing countries to make better trading conditions and promote sustainability. It advocates the payment of a higher price to exporters as well as higher social and environmental standards. It focuses in particular on exports from developing countries to developed countries, most notably handicraftscoffeecocoasugarteabananashoneycottonwine, fresh fruitchocolateflowers, and gold.

So, basicly, Fair Trade is making sure farmers and other workers get a fair price for the products that they grow or produce.  Which I find to be very important.
When I heard that October was Fair Trade month (along with Breast Cancer Awareness, Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness, and so many more), I really wanted to do a post about something to do with fair trade.  That is why I was super excited when BzzAgent contacted me about doing a review on Green Mountain Coffee’s Fair Trade Three Continent Blend Coffee.
This coffee, is wonderful!  It is so smooth, and full of flavor that I think I may have found my new favorite blend of coffee (sorry Nantucket Blend).  I also love that it comes in K-Cups or as a bagged coffee so that I don’t have to worry with the my K-cups if I don’t want to.

You are going to pay a little bit more for this coffee than you will the other brands (about $9-$10 for a 12 oz bag or $16-$17 for 24 k-cups), but in my mind, if you want quality coffee, it is well worth the price.    Sometimes, you really do get what you pay for, and this is a major example of that philosophy.
Are you wondering how you can get your own Green Mountain Coffee Three Continent Blend yet?  Well, I suggest that you head on on over to http://choosefairtrade.com, where you can buy the bagged coffee or the k-cups.
Disclaimer:  Baby Marohn received free samples of the Green Mountain Coffee Three Continent Blend  from BzzAgent.com.  I was in no way paid for my opinion and these words are 100% my own.  The Wikipedia information can be found at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fair_trade.  If you have any questions, please use the contact form on the right hand side of your screen.
