Calling all my PCOS “cysters”, I have found the best tweezers in the world to deal with our hairy-ness!!
I have been using some cheap ones that I got at walmart for years, and I had no clue something better was out there. The Grooming District ones (my set came with three), are completely awesome!!! They are made from some very sturdy metal, so I don’t have to worry the tweezers bending.
The tweezers also grab and hold onto the hair like no one’s business. So what used to take up so much of my time plucking, I can get done in record time.
My set came with three different tips. There is a straight tip, a slanted tip, and a pointed tip. I tend to use the straight tip more than any of the others. I have found some uses for the slanted tip (like around my eyebrows), but not found anything to use the pointy ones for.
Overall, I am very impressed, and am definitely keeping these around for a long long time.
As most of us know Father’s day is next month, and if you didn’t know, Father’s day is June 19th. I have decided to come up with a few ideas of gifts you can give your dad this year.
The Marky vacuum insulated tumbler is very high on my list for Father’s Day gift ideas. I am in love with this tumbler, and I think everyone should have one.
If you have not heard about the vacuum insulated tumbler craze, here is the deal. These tumblers will keep a beverage ice cold or very hot for hours. With the Marky tumbler, I have been able to keep coffee hot for about 4ish hours!! That is a huge deal when you forget you made coffee to begin with. The tumbler works just as well to keep drinks cold, when I tried it, I took water from the fridge, and it kept it cold for at least 3 hours, beyond that I don’t know, I got thirsty…
The Marky tumblers are 20oz and are made from high quality food grade stainless steel. If you were thinking about getting one of those name brand tumblers, stop, this one is literally more than half the cost of the name brand, and it works just as well. You can find the Marky tumblers on Amazon, and, like I said before, would make an awesome Father’s Day gift.
Back in December “Daddy Marohn” got a new car. It’s a nice car too, leather seats, and the full package. One problem we’ve had though is the mud. It seems like it rained all winter, and the first thing Goose wanted to do when she got in the car is put her muddy little shoes on the back of the drivers seat. And it was a constant battle with her because she didn’t understand what she was doing wrong.
That’s when we decided to look into a kick matt. The child car seat kick mats by Drive™ Auto Products, are really nice. They are made from a 100% fiber reinforced commercial-grade material chosen for its durable, washable, flexible, reversible qualities and luxury appearance.
I liked that these kick mats start at by hooking onto the headrest post and then goes all the way to the bottom of the back of the seat and hook on the springs on the bottom of the seat. It was also very very easy to install, and serves it’s purpose.
One thing that I wish that Drive™ Auto Products would change is the fact that there are no pockets. Yes I know that they like the simplistic design of their kick mats, but I do miss having a spot to keep tissues or toys.
Overall, this is a very good mat, and I am thinking about getting some for the other car, and maybe making my own pockets for it.
If you are interested in purchasing the Drive™ Auto Products kick mat, you can find them on Amazon.
(I tried to get pictures, but they didn’t turn out very well. I am going to try again when it’s daylight out.)
Buying gifts for boys is something that I’ve found to be a challenge since my nephew was born. I grew up with all girls, so I never know what to get him. I want to get him something he likes, but also something he didn’t think to put on his wish list. This year he is 7, almost 8, and I have no idea the sort of things he is into other than Minecraft. I knitted him a hat, but what 7 year old really wants a hand knitted hat for Christmas.
So after doing some looking around and reading what other people recommend, I decided to go with a magic set.
I found this really neat set on Amazon. It comes with a cape, a magic card deck, a magic wand, a magic wire ring, and a coin illusion box.
Here is Goose demonstrating the coin trick with a dime.
The card deck is really neat. They are slightly larger at one end than the other, so as long as the one card you want is the only card facing that direction, and it’s near the middle of the deck, you should be able to find it. Here is a short video.
Overall, this is the perfect gift for my nephew, and I know it will make an awesome Christmas gift for any little kid. It is definitely Goose approved.
If you would like to add this little set to your shopping list, it can be found on Amazon for about $25, the cape alone is probably worth that much, and you get all the other stuff along with it. Very good value.
For a while now I am been taking omega-3 fish oil, and then I heard about omega-6’s. I had no idea that you should be taking a balance of the two. Actually, according to WebMD, you should be taking a ratio of 1:1 or 2:1 omega6 to omega3. The SureKrill by Herbal Gist combines the Omega6 and 3 in perfect balance to omega 9 (which is a fatty acid that does not NEED to be supplemented, but does not hurt).
The benefits of the omega fatty acids 3, 6, and 9 are pretty long. They contain DHA and EPA, which help with stiffness in the joints. The omegas can also help with cholesterol (good and bad), brain function, PMS, blood pressure, asthma, and ADHD.
I’ve only been taking the SureKrill for a few weeks now, and I have not noticed any difference from the fish oils I was taking other than the fact I only have to take 1 v/s 3 of the fish oil. My husband took the SureKrill for a few days and he noted that he would have trouble sleeping if he took it at night.
Overall, I like it. I am not sure if I was supposed to notice any difference in anything by now or not. I would recommend based on the fact that everyone needs to be taking omega 3 and 6 daily.
If you would like to have a chance to try the SureKrill for yourself, you are welcome to enter below. There will be three winners this time, so tell your friends and family too!!
You can also find SureKrill on Herbal Gist’s website here: http://herbalgist.com/products/surekrill
Gluten issues is something that has been going on in our family for a while now, and it always amazes me how bland and tasteless the products are that are available.
Recently, my sister and I got to try the Our House baking mixes. We honestly had never tried to make anything out of gluten free all purpose flour, but decided there was no better time like the present.
The recipe for biscuits was a lot different than what we normally do. The recipe called for:
- 1 ½ cups Our House Gluten-Free Baking Mix (228 grams)
- 1 tsp sugar
- ½ tsp salt
- 4 tbsp vegetable shortening
- ¾ cup milk (or milk alternative)
- 1 large egg (or 1/3 cup applesauce)
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
We also are used to cutting out the biscuits, so we went ahead and did that.
Baking was about normal, and they looked just like normal biscuits when they came out of the oven. The texture at first was a little different though. You could tell they were a little different than normal biscuits. It almost felt like we had added a little bit of finely ground cornmeal to the mixture.
Overall, I think our biscuits made from the Our House Gluten Free All Purpose Baking mix turned out really well. You could tell there was something a little different about them, but the biscuits were very good.
My next adventure is to try the Our House Bread Mix, which can be put in the bread machine (kind of excited about that part).
If you are interested in purchasing any of the Our House mixes or flour, you can find them on their site https://ourhousegf.com. The prices are really not all that bad compared to other gluten free products out there, and well worth EVERY penny.
Our House also has several really awesome gluten free recipes on their website for things like blueberry cobbler, peanut butter cookies, and so many more. It’s worth checking out if you are one of the many who are not able to eat gluten.
If you would like to connect with Our House, you can do so on the following social media sites:
When our kids are infants, we constantly hear no pillows, no blankets, no stuffed animals, so I’ve always been a little apprehensive about giving Goose a pillow to sleep on. She has been a co-sleeper since she was a few months old, and during the night she’s has always creeped her way onto my pillow. So, when she started sleeping in her own bed a few months ago, I was really confused about if she was supposed to have a pillow and what kind of pillow she should have.
After some research I found that you could start introducing a pillow at about age 2, but I always tend to err on the side of caution.
I knew when I did chose to introduce a pillow it should be small. That’s why I decided to go with a toddler pillow. I know the amount of toddler pillows on the market can be very overwhelming. One of the best toddler pillows that I’ve come across is the Little One’s Pillow.
I love that it is made with organic cotton that is grown and woven in the USA. Some other great things are the pillow is only 13 in x 18 in, hypoallergenic, and can be machine washed. That’s a huge plus in my book. Goose LOVES how soft and fluffy the pillow is, and will not sleep with any other pillow now.
If you would like to purchase the Little One’s Pillow and Pillowcase, you can find them on Amazon, and you can read more about the set on their website http://www.littleonespillow.com/. The pillow is a little expensive at about $26 (7/1/15) and the pillowcase is about $20 (7/1/15). It’s still a great investment, and they have a guarantee if you do not like the pillow.

First of all, I need to wish Sophia a very happy “Gotcha Day”. Sophia has been with us for a year now, and I have to say that she has changed so much in that time.
When Sophia came into our home, we right away had some issues that we knew we were going to have some trouble with. For one, she was not potty trained. Maltese are hard to potty train anyway, but Sophia had an addition problem; she was already 2 1/2 years old.
Sophia was also very very afraid of grass and dirt. We right away knew that she was not going to be the one digging in the yard, but it also made it very challenging for potty training. It took Michael and I weeks of picking her up and placing her in the grass or gently leading her into the grass to get finally get Sophia to walk unassisted into the grass by herself.
Another problem we had was, the previous owners I guess didn’t know what they were getting into when they bought Sophia, and the poor dog’s hair was matted down to her skin in places. Her first haircut I gave her, she was awesome. I had to cut the hair all the way down, and she never once complained.
Over the past year, she has obviously overcome that fear of grass (dirt is a whole other issue), we are constantly working on getting her to pee and poo outside. She is doing so much better, but there are still days where she has accidents inside, so we have just learned to watch where we walk and the best ways to clean up the mess.
I made a promise to Sophia after that first grooming, that I would never let her get that matted again. I try to completely shave her every three of four months, but in between that those total cuts, I use detangling shampoo.
Recently, I’ve been using the Dancing Pet Best Groomer’s Pet Shampoo. It’s great for dogs that are prone to tangles and dry skin. Which is definitely Sophia.
I love this shampoo because it’s an all Natural Formula – no harsh chemicals, there is no oatmeal to irritate – only a grain-free alternative to soothe, no alcohol to dry or damage skin, no tea tree oil to sting or leave greasy residue, no hydrocortisone to break down the skin, no toxic stuff like MEA’s or DEA’s, it’s eco-friendly, all plant-based naturally-derived ingredients, and the biggy Doesn’t Deactivate Topical Flea Treatments.
I also love the the Dancing Pet shampoo because it leaves Sophia so soft, fluffy, and makes her hair super white. It also smells great. The shampoo has a very fruity smell, and deodorizes great, there was no “wet dog” smell after her baths.
Overall, I love this shampoo, and I would recommend it to anyone who has a dog with long hair. If you are interested in purchasing a bottle for your dog, you can find it on Amazon here.
