Shop and Learn Cash Register Review

Role playing has always been one of Goose’s favorite play time activities.  We play doctor, vet, restaurant, and like we are at the store pretty much every day.  The Shop and Learn Cash Register has quickly become one of Nora’s favorite toys.

Here is a quick video of Goose playing the the Shop and Learn Cash Register

As you can see, she is having a blast putting the coins in the pay for her purchases.

The Shop and Learn Cash Register comes with plenty of pretend food and money (including a credit card) to keep your little one interested for quite some time.

Not only is this toy fun, but it is also educational.  There are three learning levels on the Shop and Learn Cash Register. The first level is very basic.  When you put in the coins it just counts them, or when you slide a piece of food over the scanner, it just tells you what it is. The next two levels get a little harder.  Here is a video about each level.

Overall, we love the Shop and Learn Cash Register.  It has made for some very fun play time, and has kept Goose very busy while we recently moved.

The only problem we have found is, there is only two sound volumes; loud and very loud.  I wish there was a way to make the sounds a little quieter.

Children ‘N US Stroller Organizer Review

One thing that I’ve not liked about my Britax stroller since I got it is the lack of storage for drinks, snacks, and items that I need to get to quickly (like my phone).  I have struggled with this for more than a year only because I could not decide what I wanted to use to meet our needs.  Britax makes a bag that hooks onto the stroller, but I read some pretty negative reviews about that one.  That’s when I saw the Children ‘n Us stroller organizer.

This bag has straps that hook onto the stroller’s handle bar.  The straps are adjustable so that you can use it for almost any size stroller.

There is a ton of room inside.  It also has two spots to hold drinks, and a narrow zipper pocket in the back to hold small items.

The drink area is like a mesh pocket with elastic at the top.  It works great with like bottles and tick cups, but I personally would not recommend putting any flimsy cups in there as it might cause them to spill.

There is a flap that cover 1/3 of the top, and closes with a magnetic clasp.  I know that 1/3 sounds strange, but the sides are left open so that you can access the drink pockets without having to open the bag all the way up.

There are also two really nice pockets in the front.  One is open and is great for my phone, and the other has a flap over it that keeps closed with velcro.

Overall, I have really found this bag very helpful on our trips to the zoo.  I no longer have to hope that my stays on the canopy of the stroller, I have a place to put them.

If you are interested in the Children ‘n Us stroller organizer, you can check it out on Amazon or on their website.

Little Cosmetics Review and Giveaway

I honestly think that it’s adorable that Goose likes to play with make-up.  She looks so cute trying to put it on, and I love to see what she comes up with.  But, it worries me too.  I know I know, you may say that I am over thinking things, and I should just let her play with it, but have you ever really looked at the ingredients of make-up?  Well, if you get a chance you should, then you should look and see what those chemicals can do to you body.

I also worry about her getting the make-up in her eyes or mouth.  Now, that is/should be a real worry for every parent.

I was so happy when I saw the Little Cosmetics set on Amazon. These sets look and feel like real make-up, but there is no mess and nothing comes off on your skin.

Here is a video I took of Goose playing with the Little Cosmetics Essentials Set.

So here is my honest opinion of Little Cosmetics, I LOVE IT.  It’s safe for Goose to play with, it’s cute, and she has a blast!!

Invasion of Ponies and Donkeys

Monday, my husband was outside, and noticed that across the street there were a bunch of ponies (or mini horses I don’t know how to tell the difference) and they were heading towards our house.  We live on a pretty busy road, and he was afraid they would get hit, so he ran inside and got me and started grabbing veggies and other things to feed them.  Michael called the non-emergency police number, and I called animal control. By the way, if you call animal control and tell them you are being invaded by ponies and donkeys, they will laugh at you.

We waited for about an hour and a half, and finally a police officer showed up.  He didn’t really do much, but tell us that animal control was on their way. We waited for about another 30 min… alone… trying to keep 7 ponies and 2 donkeys confined to our yard.

Once animal control showed, people started coming from everywhere to “help”.  Some knew what they doing, but others, were more of a hindrance than anything. I told Michael that we should start charging admission.

To get all the animals loaded, the policed had to shut down the road we live on.  That road happens to be a rather busy road, and we just moved into this house.  I kept telling myself “way to make friends, Jennifer”.

Anyway, all ended up turning out fine.  The ponies and donkeys got back to their owner, and looked happy to be home.  I’ve kind of missed them since they left though haha.

Navigating Emotions for Parents Ebook Review

Parenting can be really tough.  You have a child you are helping learn the ways of the world, and it’s hard to know what the appropriate emotion should be in some situations.  I know there are times when Goose isn’t listening or doing the exact thing that I told her not to do, that I have trouble breathing through the anger, and staying clam with her.

The eBook “Navigating Emotions for Parents”, was written by Amy Phoenix, a mom of five and certified certified parent educator. Amy wrote this book to help parents learn ways to properly use their emotions around their children, helping the children feel safe and parents feel more confident in the way they are raising their children.

Through out this book, you will be able to look at 20 different situations.  Each situation, will give the normal reaction and then explain how you can replace that action with a more useful and loving emotion that children may respond to a little better.  Here is a list of the scenarios that the eBook will walk you through: (More info about each can be found here).

The Sit Down
The Sensation Balloon
The Simple Inquiry
The Satisfying Shout
The Special Notebook
The Silent Treatment
The Sensation Wave
The Secret Camera
The Safe Friend
The Soft Whisper
The Smooth Exit
The Silly Signal

The Speaking Notebook
The Speaking Walls
The Solution Rehearsal

Overall, I am really finding this eBook very helpful in going through my frustration and sometimes anger with Goose.  It has helped me remember to breath, and also to remember that she is only 3 years old.

If you find yourself, at times, loosing your cool with your kids, you should really check out this book.  Right now, it is available for $2.99 here:

TheraVita Paradise Coconut Oil Review

Over the past two or so years, I have fallen in love with coconut oil  I’ve used it for pretty much everything from diaper rash to cooking.

Recently, I got to try the TheraVita Paradise Pure Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil that’s found on Amazon.  It has a really great texture, smell, and taste.

It arrived on one of the hottest days of the year, and was completely melted.  I was really kind of worried that it has ruined it, but after a few hours in the fridge, everything was back to a solid once again.

TheraVita only uses Organic extra virgin coconut oil that is non GMO certified.  They also make sure that their product is free of any flavoring or artificial preservatives.

FunKins Cloth Napkins Review

When I was in school and would take my lunch to school, I would just stuff all my trash back in my bag and bring it home when I was done with lunch.  So, if your kid is the same way, why not give them something that will make them very popular that the lunch table; reusable cloth napkin designed for kids by Funkins!!!

Funkins are cloth napkins that are made to fit in lunch bags or to be used at home for snack or meal time.  They measure 13″x15″ and are made of 100% cotton and low impact dyes.

Seriously, these prints could not get any more cute!  For my review Funkins sent me a pack of the girl prints for Goose, and I think I loved them more than Goose did.  There are tons of fun prints, and they are double sided.  It’s almost too much cuteness for one lunch bag.  You can check out the full line of prints here.

Over all, I LOVE these napkins, and they are so easy to clean.  Once the cloth napkins get dirty, just throw them in the wash with all of your other cold water laundry (no you do not have to wash them like cloth diapers), dry, and reuse.  So simple!!!

If you are ready to check out Funkins for yourself, head on over to, and have a look around.  Each napkin is $10 (Canadian Dollar), but will last you for a LONG time and reduces the amount of waste in the landfills.
