Marky Vacuum Insulated Tumbler Review

As most of us know Father’s day is next month, and if you didn’t know, Father’s day is June 19th.  I have decided to come up with a few ideas of gifts you can give your dad this year.

IMG_0981The Marky vacuum insulated tumbler is very high on my list for Father’s Day gift ideas.  I am in love with this tumbler, and I think everyone should have one.

If you have not heard about the vacuum insulated tumbler craze, here is the deal.  These tumblers will keep a beverage ice cold or very hot for hours.  With the Marky tumbler, I have been able to keep coffee hot for about 4ish hours!!  That is a huge deal when you forget you made coffee to begin with. The tumbler works just as well to keep drinks cold, when I tried it, I took water from the fridge, and it kept it cold for at least 3 hours, beyond that I don’t know, I got thirsty…

The Marky tumblers are 20oz and are made from high quality food grade stainless steel.  If you were thinking about getting one of those name brand tumblers, stop, this one is literally more than half the cost of the name brand, and it works just as well.  You can find the Marky tumblers on Amazon, and, like I said before, would make an awesome Father’s Day gift.

AYL Soundfit Waterproof Bluetooth Speaker Review

ayl soundfit

As a parent, we always want to get products that are high quality, but worry about accidents around our kids.  I know we have a very very expensive bluetooth speaker that I’m afraid for Goose to even touch.

The AYL Soundfit speaker really offers all that my very very expensive speaker offers, but in a smaller package and with a few extra features I love.

ayl soundfit

First off, what the AYL SoundFit speaker offers…

  • Bluetooth 4.0
  • Waterproof for accidental drops in water or for shower use
  • Ability to answer calls
  • 33ft working distance
  • X-Base
  • Dust-proof
  • shock-proof

AYL SoundFitThe waterproof/shockproof features is what really interested me in the product.  As a mom of a preschooler, I know spills and drops happen…a lot… and I have to say that the AYL SoundFit has stood up to the test.  I’ve even started taking the speaker in the shower so that I can listen to a little de-stressing music (thanks Foster The People) while I am showering.

AYL SoundFitThe sound quality of the speaker is pretty great too.  I don’t have a way to really test the sound, so what we did was turn the speaker on and played some music.  When we went into another room, we would see how good it sounded.  The AYL Soundfit, still sounded awesome a few rooms away.

There is one thing that really annoyed me about the AYL SoundFit speaker.  It starts off at FULL volume!!  Also the start up/shut down sounds are really really loud too.  Normally when I shower, Goose has just gone to bed, and her room is right beside my bathroom, so I try to be as quiet as I can; when this speaker’s sound effects are super loud, that makes things a little difficult for me.  I’ve started hiding the speaker in the towels to turn it on, and then turn it down right away. Of course when you reach the lowest volume setting, it plays a super loud beep, beep, beep to let you know.  Also a little annoying.

Overall, this is a pretty good speaker.  I hope that in future versions and models they do away with the loud sound effects and maybe have the speaker start out of half volume.

If you are interested in purchasing the AYL Soundfit Bluetooth Speaker, you can find them on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B014VJD6PQ  Right now (as of 11/3/15) the price is about $30, which is really not bad for what you get.  Well worth the cost.

Blupure Countertop Water Filter Review

There has been a lot of press recently about how dirty tap water is, and it has a lot of people scared.  We have been using water filters for years, but I know I’ve heard a lot of people talking about it.  I’ve always kind of wondered about the things that are in water filters, or what might be left over once it goes through the filter. What drew me into the BluPure filter was two things;1) It is ecofriendly and 2) there were 13 stages in this filtration system.

The 13 stage filtration consists of the following filters:

  1. 5-micron filter pad
  2. KDF-55
  3. 5-micron filter pad
  4. catalytic carbon
  5. 5-micron filter pad
  6. G.A.C. (granular active carbon)
  7. 5-micron filter pad
  8. ion exchange resin (I.O.R.)
  9. 5-micron filter pad
  10. zeolite natural rock
  11. 5-micron filter pad
  12. calcite
  13. 0.5-micron carbon block

There are a ton of steps that water has to go through just to end up in your glass.  Almost everything that might have been in you water should be out by then including:

  • Chlorine
  • Cysts
  • Heavy Metals
    (mercury, iron, lead, etc.)
  • Herbicides
  • VOCs
  • Asbestos
  • Giardia
  • Arsenic
  • Bromide
  • PBCs
  • Bacteria
  • Protozoa
  • Radiation Particles
  • Medication Residue
  • Hydrogen Sulfide
  • Pesticides
  • Trihalomethanes
  • Cadmium
  • Petrochemicals
  • Sediment

That is a quite a bit of stuff. The water to me tastes so much cleaner, and it no longer has that chlorine taste. I am going to try to have the water tested soon, to see if a lab can tell the difference between a control sample and a sample of water that went through the filter.  Once I get the results I will post them.

There are a few problems I’ve had with the BluPure filter.  First of all, we have very high water pressure at out house, and that caused the BluPure filter to leak.  The leak was very slow, so I could never find where it came from.  BluPure sent me a replacement part, but before I went and tried to take the filter apart, I decided to try the filter at my mom’s house.  There it worked just fine.  The second issue we had was that since the filter hooks directly to the faucet, the water coming out of the faucet very slow.  That is just more annoying than anything, and I’m not really sure what is causing that issue.

Overall, barring any thing coming up on the lab report, I really do think that BluPure has come up with a very nice product.  I wish that I could use it at my house, however my mom and sister are really enjoying having it.

If you would like to purchase your very own BluPure water filter, you can do so on Amazon.  The current price is $85.95 (PRIME!!) and has 4.9 stars out of 5!  So, if you are looking for a filtration system that will remove almost everything in you water for a reasonable price, this is where you should look.
